Planning
to backpack
around the world... but don't know where to start?
Filled
with practical and philosophical insight, The New
Backpacker's Guidebook is the
perfect resource to help first-time travelers
prepare for their
trip, get acclimated to their new surroundings and make the most of
their experience overseas.
This
book explains the
fundamentals that new and inexperienced travelers need to know,
in addition to providing helpful assurance along the way. With
various tips, warnings, useful tools and checklists, this book will
encourage you to gain that fulfilling sense of
independence only gained on a trip like this!
By
focusing on the human connection and ways to maximize your experience, The New
Backpacker's Guidebook shows
that traveling the world
is not always as easy (or complicated) as what television
shows or movies make it appear to be.
This concise, easy-to-carry book will also help you
prepare for your trip by targeting
on realistic needs and providing assistance as
you travel - yet it leaves you enough breathing room
to gain confidence while
becoming more self-reliant.
In
addition, the book also complements any
warnings or advice that a first-time backpacker
will get ahead
of time, such as from family members, friends, Internet forums or from
a university's study abroad office.
Backpacking across Europe, Australia or around the world...
these tips can help you experience more on your trip while
saving money, time or even your life.
Many
thanks to College Parent Magazine for their kind words in a book
review, now available in the May 2010 edition - check out

I've
browsed websites and read some material already...
And
that's great!
The
New Backpacker's Guidebook is
a perfect complement to study
abroad packets and various websites, such as those with
up-to-date timetables for trains or other transportation.
Plus,
this
concise and easy-to-carry
book contains backpacking basics available at a moment's reach
- whether you're in bed, on the bus or your
next flight.
Remember,
this
is a guidebook for you
and making sure you make the most out of your European backpacking
trip, your railway rides through Asia or your travels throughout
Australia. It was never designed or written to be stuffed
with
information that
could be quickly outdated, such as
prices or times. This
is where other websites will come in handy.
Why
should I read this book before backpacking across Europe or Australia
when
there's other big-name competition in the bookstore?
That's
a fair question.
Here's what the author says to that:
If
you're planning to
go backpacking across Europe, then you might be excited but also
nervous,
too. That's natural. But instead of getting sidetracked
with what you expect to happen, you need to prepare for your
backpacking trip with the
fundamentals in mind and get
back to basics...
I've been there and I know how it feels. The larger publishers
and authors usually have bigger budgets, classier hotel rooms
and connections throughout various countries, so there might be a
slight disconnect with some readers. But without any
of these
options, I have traveled with the same budgets, hostel locations and
expectations as you will!
The other guidebooks can be great for certain details or excursions,
but my book is one of very few that helps guide you
personally throughout your trip - from before you leave home and even
after you get back.
My philosophy is to lead by example and I wanted to inform
first-time travelers how they can
fully prepare, safely travel and get acclimated to several changes
throughout the trip. So, by using these
tips, I eventually traveled solo through most of
Europe to St. Petersburg, then took the train all the way to Beijing
before heading home.
The bottom line is that
the amount of passport stamps should not
define your backpacking experience. It really comes down to how well
you
associate
with
people who barely speak English, how you truly embrace other
cultures and
how much you enjoy spending time sightseeing or finding out what the
local area has to offer - but without anyone else's opinion or
viewpoint to skew your own.
Enjoy yourself, savor each moment and get the most out of your trip!
This book is an
excellent gift for the new college graduate!
